Center for Sustainable Agriculture

This building would serve as a center to promote and educate the public in the area of sustainable agriculture, providing members of the community and local farmers with a place to meet, organize, and hold events, thereby increasing awareness of sustainable and healthy living. I designed the center using creative integrated green building strategies and materials, including alternative energy such as solar panels. The entrance was located so pedestrians coming from San Francisco's historic and The Embarcadero would be drawn into the curve of the glass-fronted doorway. The atrium had two large garage-like doors that each slid up to reveal the beautiful farmers market, giving the room an open-air feel, as well as providing an easy and stunning entrance for vendors an shoppers. The second floor held the gallery shows and exhibited art collections with an excellent view of the bay as well as the entire outdoor market.
